The quality assurance you were never taught to do.
Join us for the Analytic Review and Quality Control class!
28–30 April 2026 | Online | 3 Days
12:30–16:00 BST each day | 3.5 hours of instruction per day
Course Description:
Most intelligence reviewers were never trained to review.
They were promoted because they were good analysts, handed a queue of products, and expected to figure it out.
This course fixes that.
This course teaches how to conduct effective reviews of intelligence reports and briefings, to better ensure these products meet their clients’ needs. In it we explore the differences between editing, reviewing, and evaluating intelligence products, the different levels and purposes of analytic review, and the roles first-line supervisors, intelligence managers, and senior intelligence officials play in this process. Finally, participants will use sample products and practical guides and worksheets to practice identifying strengths and shortcomings in intelligence reports, and practice giving clear, consistent reviews and feedback to improve the analytic production.
By the end of this course, you'll be able to:
Distinguish between editing, reviewing, and evaluating intelligence products — and know when each is appropriate
Apply analytic standards consistently across first-level and second-level review
Conduct efficient pre-dissemination and post-dissemination review
Give clear, actionable feedback that actually improves production
Build a standardized review and evaluation process you can implement in your own organization
Model effective review practice for others on your team

Who this course is for:
Mid-to-senior intelligence analysts and supervisors who are responsible for reviewing and evaluating analytic products — and who want a systematic, repeatable way to do it well.
You don't need to be struggling. Many participants are already competent reviewers. They take this course because they want to make their process consistent, teachable, and defensible.
Course Prerequisites:
There are no formal prerequisites, but participants should already have a solid foundation in analytic intelligence production.
If you're not sure whether your team is ready, we recommend completing our Analytic Intelligence Production course first. It's designed to set exactly that foundation.
